UpdraftPlus is the global team behind some of the most popular WordPress plugins in the world! Used by more than 5 million WordPress website owners, our plugins have a reputation for being reliable and powerful. You can find out more about our plugins here https://updraftplus.com/

We have an exciting opportunity for a Web Developer with excellent PHP, JS and WordPress experience to join our growing, ambitious team!

This is a full-time position (37.5 hrs / week) but we are open to part-time hours, employed (UK only) or freelance. If you have the skills, we will fit the arrangement to suit your needs!

We have a team based in Cardiff but we work flexibly, with the option for both remote-working (UK or abroad), or being based in a shared workspace.

Salary, depending on experience

The Job

You will play a leading role in the company’s aim to continue to be the dominant player in the plugin industry, working together with a small, global team involved in development and testing.

The Day-to-Day Role

– Collaborate with the team on our codebase to implement new features, bug fixes and improvements
– Work in PHP, JavaScript and WordPress libraries to write clean, efficient and secure code
– Write inline documentation for your code
– Test and produce testing guides for your code
– Manage your own time to fulfil your tasks
– Research / debug problems on your own or in collaboration with other developers and our support team

Your exact responsibilities will depend on your experience and how this fits with the work being done by other members of the team.

You’ll definitely need experience with:
– PHP – you’d be coding UpdraftPlus or WP Optimize, plus fragments for managing the website as well as UpdraftCentral.
– WordPress plugin development.

It would be nice if you have experience with:
– JavaScript – a smaller part of UpdraftPlus, but much bigger part of UpdraftCentral.
– GitHub / GitLab / Git – nice to have, but can be learnt quickly by good developers used to alternatives like SVN.

The Benefits

Trust
We trust our employees to work autonomously. You won’t be micromanaged but will be free to use your time as effectively as possible to get your job done in your unique and individual style.

You can choose to work from the comfort of your own home or, if you’re local, come to our shared workspace in Cardiff. For those who aren’t local, feel free to find a shared workspace close to you and we’ll pick up the tab.

Some of us prefer the traditional arrangement of 9-5 working, and others don’t. You can work your hours to suit you. All we ask is that you are online during core hours so you are free to collaborate with the team!

Development opportunities
We are committed to investing in all of our employees, so if there are any books, online tools or courses you think would be beneficial to you, let us know and we will do our best to make sure you get them.
